Visiting the Charming Town of Cavtat

The places I love the most are those that you don’t expect to be as memorable as they turn out to be. For me, one of those places is the town of Cavtat in Croatia.
Located just beneath the city of Dubrovnik, Cavtat seemed to be a great spot to base myself in for a week of R&R in the late summer heat, so I booked myself a little package holiday with TUI and immersed myself into a long overdue European holiday.
Staying at the Remisens Epidaurus Hotel located upon a stretch of beach, where watersports and swimming are a must, it didn’t take me long to set foot towards the highlight of Cavtat: the Old Town.
With the warm September sun beating down, the gentle breeze from the lapping waters was unbelievably refreshing. I spent a good portion of the afternoon pacing up and down the path obsessing over the superyachts and who their owners might be (apparently it’s a bit of a celeb hotspot) before hiking up to a viewpoint upon the hill.
There are countless cafes, restaurants and bars to dive into when you’re ready, with a solid choice of gelato flavours waiting to be sampled for dessert.
For me, Beach Bar Little Star was the ultimate spot. Located right on the tip of the peninsular that points towards the distant Lokrum Island, this was such a perfect place to enjoy a chilled glass of wine or two as golden hour unfolds and the sun begins to sink.
With that said, if you’re looking for a place to call home during your visit to Croatia and you’re not too keen on the hustle and bustle of the tourist magnet that is Dubrovnik, I can’t recommend Cavtat enough.
Better still, Dubrovnik is just a short bus, taxi, or ferry trip away, and you have great connections to the neighbouring country of Montenegro, too.
